Mariah states that although Dolf greets her in a friendly manner she is sure he is calling her "negress" or "negerin" in his heart. The word negress is a derogatory word for a Black woman similiar to the term jewess which was used to describe Jewish women. Negerin is a German word used to describe Black women. Mariah's suspicions of Dolf's attitude toward her and the particular words that she imagines he uses could be another hint that he is indeed Adolf Hitler.
