Norman Boyd has created an
extremely impressive, extremely comprehensive listing of the works of
Frank Bellamy. To quote
from the site, Frank Bellamy's "list of credits reads like a trip down
nostalgia lane in post war Britain: magazines such as Boy's Own Paper,
Lilliput, Home Notes, Everybody's and the Radio Times;
comics such as Swift, Eagle, Mickey Mouse Weekly, TV21,
and national newspapers such as the Sunday Times, and the Daily
Mirror. In his career in the late fifties he was well known as the
artist who illustrated various biographies in the Eagle. In the
sixties he spent many years on Thunderbirds in TV21. In
the seventies, he became associated with Dr. Who and the daily comic
strip Garth." You can find it at the
other
bibliographies by fans page.

BIG NEWS! Great
news, bad news, then good news. Great news:
Mike Carey's first novel has just been
published, titled
The Devil You Know: A Felix Castor Novel. 480 pages of pure Mike
Carey goodness. The bad news is it's only been published in the UK for
now, so anyone in another country won't be able to get it at their local
bookstore (in the U.S. it'll probably be over a year, if it follows the
classic pattern). The good news: that's what Amazon UK is for.
Here's a link to

MASSIVE RICHARD ARNDT UPDATE!
The old cliché "When it rains, it pours" really held true this week as Richard
Arndt ended up with FIVE updates to his indexes, one of which he'd been
waiting for 8 months to get finalized. You can get them all at the
Richard Arndt page.
So, here goes:
1) Updated the Marvel B&W Horror Magazines index with interviews with
Steve Bissette and Tim Conrad,
2) Updated the Star*Reach index, which now includes a mini-interview
with Steve Leialoha,
3) Updated the Taboo index,
4) Updated the Warren index, now including Vampirella's #113 issue from
Harris Publications, and
5) Updated the Warren Interviews page with an interview with Don
McGregor.
Also, something pretty cool has come about with a little bit of help from
Richard. As Richard wrote: "I'm really happy that I got Don & Joe
Pruett together 'cause there's going to be new Sabre & Detectives, Inc.
stories coming out of it."
Again, you can get them all at the
Richard Arndt page.

a very popular but un-annotated series. Ido Reif is now that "big news"
-- he's begun to annotate Y:

He's already done issues #1-4 --

at Sequart.com is following in the footsteps of Jess Nevins by turning his
annotations into a book! Julian expanded his
annotations on the film "Batman Begins" to include essays, box office
numbers of all of the Batman films, and a section about previous attempts to
bring the failing Batman film franchise back from the dead. The book,
titled Batman Begins and the Comics is for sale at Amazon.com and
Barnes and Noble's website, as well as "fine bookstores throughout the
country". Congratulation to Julian!

Richard Arndt has updated his The
Early Independents, which now covers a host of early magazines. It starts with
Witzend Magazine, the first of
the independent or "indy" magazines. Premiering in 1966, it published
13 issues over almost two decades, most of them between 1966-1971 and provided a
welcome link between mainstream comics and the then-new underground movement.
Witzend publisher and editor Bill Pearson has even supplied some comments in the
notes. "The Early
Independents" then covers Abyss, Andromeda, Big Apple Comix, Bop,
Colour Your Dreams, D'Arc Tangent, Dr. Wirtham's Comix & Stories, Faerie Star,
Future Day, Gates of Eden, Heritage, High Adventure, The Horns
of Elfland, Hot Stuf', I'll be Damned, Imagination, Infinity,
The Journal of Popular Culture, New Paltz Comix, Orb, Phase, Reality, Scream Door,
Tesserae, This is Legend, Venture, and Voyages (whew!). You can
